HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE BIRCH BAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Birch Bay Ring of Fire & Hope sent 2014 off in terrific fashion. Hundreds of people came out to kick off the New Years events at the Bay. Flares were lit from Point Whitehorn to Birch Bay Village and lanterns were released by spectators. It was a crystal clear, beautiful night and we had a lot of fun!
New Years Day kicked off with the 32nd Annual Birch Bay Polar Bear Plunge! It was a gorgeous day, chilly, but just gorgeous. Over 250 people registered to take the plunge and thousands of spectators came out to cheer them on.
This year was the 1st year that we were able to use the new Birch Bay Community Beach Park property to host the event. We had fires fit to warm the plungers as well as changing
tents available. The C Shop provided Free White Chocolate Polar Bear Lollipops for all of the participating kids, Thanks Alesse Family. Tammy & Dave from Bay Café provided Free Hot Cocoa & Coffee for all of our Plungers. Thanks, Guys!
We would also like to give a shout out to North Whatcom Fire & Rescue District 13 and Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department for your assistance with this event. You guys rock and we all appreciate you!
A HUGE Thank You to Whatcom County for the use of this property and for investing in our future here in Birch Bay. Our 1st event here was a success…THANK YOU!
And if that didn’t sound like enough fun…after the plunge we headed up to the Birch Bay Waterslides for the 3rd Annual International Broom Hockey Tournament sponsored by the Blaine-Birch Bay Park & Rec. Team USA brought home the 13-7 win! Congratulations, Everyone!
Thank you to Everyone who came out to help make all of these events possible. We couldn’t do this without all of our amazing members of the community, and the hard work and dedication of your volunteer Board of Directors.
We look forward to seeing you next New Years Eve!
