Park Commission Meeting
The Birch Bay Community Center and Beach Park committee promoting the Vogt property needs your help, your voice!

At the next Whatcom County Parks Commissioners meeting, the Commissioners will be
making a recommendation as to which of the two proposed sites in Birch Bay should be
further considered for the Birch Bay Community Center and Beach Park.

The Meeting will be held at the Tennant Lake Interpretive Center in Hovander Park in Ferndale. This Thursday, May 15th at 6:30p.m.

Please plan on attending and consider speaking to endorse the Vogt Property, that sits right in the center of the bay, as your preferred site location for the new park.

The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have voted to support the Vogt Property for a new park in Birch Bay.

 

 

Construction

Birch Bay-Lynden Road/Portal Way Signalization Project
As you may already be aware, this project got underway a few weeks ago.
Here is the Detour Information, and other project dates that may be helpful to
you in planning your travels.

DETOUR ROUTE:
The detour will run South on Portal Way to Grandview Road, then West to Blaine Road,
and North on Blaine Road to reconnect with Birch Bay-Lynden Road. Locals are encouraged to take alternate back roads that will provide shorter routes but are more
complicated for visitors and larger vehicles.

Important Dates:
Project Start Date: April 14, 2014
Railroad Upgrades: May 19, 2014 – June 6, 2014
*ROAD CLOSED – DETOUR IN PLACE*
Roadway Paving: Late May/Early June 2014
Traffic Installation: Late June 2014
Pond Construction: July 2014
Project Substantially Complete: July 24, 2014
Mitigation Site Planting: February 2015
