Have you ever wanted to find out how to build a kite? Want to see kites of all descriptions flying above Birch Bay while walking in the sand at low tide? Well your chance to learn about building kites, fly kites and just have fun watching kites then come on out to Birch Bay on August 17th for the 1st day of the 1st International Sea and Sky Festival beginning at 10:00 AM. The Northwest Park and Recreation District #2 will be having classes on Kite Building. Jeff Blonsky, a Skim Board Champion, will be providing Skim-boarding Instruction from 10-2 on Saturday in preparation for Sunday, August 18th.
Then on Sunday, August 18th beginning at 9:30 the emphasis will shift to both Kite flying and Skim Boarding, Paddle Boarding and Kayaking/Racing. All the events will take place in front of Via Birch Bay and Paddle and Pedal. There will be a race course set up for Skim Board, Paddle Board and Kayak racing.
