You do not want to miss this years BakerBirchBay.Com Discovery Days & Ducky Derby on July 21 & 22 in Birch Bay! This is the 33rd year for Discovery Days and it is great weekend for the entire family. Fun activities abound with the grand parade Saturday down Birch Bay Drive (11:00 AM), an arts and crafts fair (10:00 am – 7:00 pm Saturday & Sunday) as well as a variety of food vendors. Sunday (11:00 am) is the Ducky Derby Race down Terrell Creek to the mouth of Birch Bay. All the ducks are now into their regular summer training and look forward to the big race on July 22 when nearly 350 competing ducks will jump from the Terrell Creek Bridge and race to the mouth to take home the 2012 Ducky Derby Title. About BakerBirchBay.Com – “From snowballs to sandcastles, and everything in between!” BakerBirchBay.Com is a joint marketing effort led by the Mt. Baker Foothills Chamber of Commerce and the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce with funding provided by a Whatcom County Tourism Grant which specifically spreads the word about the Mt. Baker Foothills and Birch Bay as tourist destinations during off-season months. For Birch Bay, the offseason is November-April while the off-season for the Mt. Baker Foothills is May-October.
