Two-Buck Duck Is Preparation For The 2012 Ducky Derby (And Winners Of The First Race)

July 22nd will be the 2012 Official Ducky Derby contest held at the mouth of Terrell Creek, but just as we did last year, there will be a few “Two-Buck Duck” warm up events, the first of which was held at our June membership meeting at the Birch Bay Waterslides.

In a spirited competition, with the help of the Waterslides staff, nearly fifty ducks competed for 1st Place while riding down the “Snake” waterslide.  The top three leaders were neck and neck throughout the race, with the crowds cheering them on. And here are the results:

  1. Nancy Stull and Brian Southwick with Christina Alexander (Duck 423, Oh Boy)

    Christina Alexander  racing Duck #423 (Oh Boy)  who took home a $27.00 Gift Certificate to Birch Bay Waterslides;

  2. John Ellis, Owner of Pooch Palace (Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce Member of the Month) racing Duck #419 (Trinket) who took home a $15.00 gift Certificate to the C-Shop;
  3. Patricia Alesse C Shop  racing Duck #431 (Flibbity Jibbet 1) who took home a $10.00 gift certificate to Pacific Building Center.

All the ducks are now into their regular summer training and look forward to the big race on July 22 when nearly 350 competing ducks will jump from the Terrell Creek Bridge and race to the mouth to take home the 2012 Ducky Derby Title.
