The Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resources Management District (that we voted to tax ourselves on to help in cleaning up Birch Bay), today (November 30, 2011) formally notified the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce that:
“the Advisory Committee does not support funding public restrooms as part of the BBWARM stormwater program because they do not view it as a stormwater or water quality issue.”
While this may seem to many to be clearly out of sync with the public perception of what BBWARM was going to do for our community, in fairness to BBWARM they are apparently constrained by their charter and limited to what they can do and are sympathetic to the need for public restrooms in Birch Bay.
If you would like to read the complete letter from BBWARM to the Chamber, you can view it by clicking here. The Birch Bay Chamber would like to extend its appreciation to Ingrid Enschede, Program Specialist, for raising the issue with the BBWARM Advisory Committee.
