People in Bellingham awoke to a rainy morning and thought that it was not a good day to go to Birch Bay and build sand castles, but they were wrong. It was not raining in Birch Bay and those who came, and they came by the hundreds, enjoyed a cloudy, and for the most part dry day. And it was a day of fun, creativity and unbelievable sculptures. This year we had three categories, Individual, Family/Group and Business. We also had a Best of Show. And the winners were:
Individual: 1st – Katy Reynolds, 2nd – Dusty Poortinca, 3rd – Leah Stacey
Business: 1st – Birch Bay Waterslides, 2nd – Glass House, 3rd – Scentsy
Best of Show: Arrrrgh Family & Mates
Of course, your Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce is an all-volunteer association and this event, like all our events, could not be done without the support of the volunteers. Special thanks goes to Waterside Church who provided six people to help with parking, cleaning up and helping to direct people.
And the support of our sponsors really made a difference and a big thanks goes to our Title Sponsor Data-Link, and our other sponsors, Carrie Beck Take Shape for Life, Oltman Insurance, Tide Catcher, and Mike Kent.
So mark your calendars for next year !! It is the third Saturday in June.
